With a dedicated team of over a thousand, the Alliance Canada supports hundreds of affiliated local churches across Canada as well as active global outreach ministries in approximately 40 countries.

OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a videographer & editor with a creative eye and technical skills to tell stories of what God is doing in the alliance. You’ll be collaborating with teams and ministries in Canada and internationally to shoot and edit content to be used by our workers and churches around the world. You’ll interview workers, document events, and tell captivating stories.

As a part of the communications team, the videographer primarily tells stories that are aligned with the vision, values, and brand voice of the alliance Canada.

Communications team members, national ministry staff and departments, Alliance leaders around the world: International Workers, District staff, Associations, and partners, vendors, and contractors


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We’re responsible for The Alliance Canada brand, https://thealliancecanada.ca, weekly emails, social media, major campaigns, a yearly magazine, videos, creative projects, and more. We’re a tiny, internal, creative agency.

As part of a team, the videographer & editor contributes at various points to most major communications projects, from the initial idea to the finished product.
The ideal candidate collaborates well with various teams, tells great jokes, and can deliver a quality, on-time product.

As a member of the communications team, you must be able to navigate relationships within the Communications team, the National Ministry Centre, and with stakeholders across The Alliance Canada.

An average day:

  • You’re keeping your ears and eyes open for stories that would make great video.
  • You’ll work through projects in conjunction with the communications team and project manager; completing and recording details in Monday.com.
  • Schedule and attend meetings with stakeholders to determine specification changes for existing sites.
  • You’re maintaining our asset library, cataloguing and tagging footage so that people can find and use the right shots when they need them.
  • You’re preparing for interviews, writing thoughtful questions, and preparing for the upcoming off-site video shoot.
  • You’re turning last week’s video into a series of reels for Instagram.

Ongoing | Video:

  • Continuously improving your skills staying up-to-date on video and photography trends
  • Create videos for newsletters, event promotion, social media, etc.
  • Research and tell stories from The Alliance.
  • Ensure shared project timelines are met
  • Schedule and attend meetings with stakeholders
  • Project management
  • Contribute to communications projects

Travel:

  • Ability to travel nationally and globally

Additional duties:

  • Writing, graphic design, or social media experience is helpful, but not a requirement.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Communications manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience:

  • Degree or diploma in a related field preferred
  • Relevant experience
  • Videos, reels or samples of your work

Competencies:

  • You can shoot and edit film for different genres: documentary, interview, teaser reel, etc.
  • When people ask for footage, you ask if they want it in s-log or colour graded.
  • You love booting up Creative Cloud applications: Premiere, After effects, lightroom, and photoshop (or maybe Davinci or other equivalent software).
  • You can frame a shot for video or photography with ease.
  • Knowledge of composition, lighting, and audio recording on-location and in-studio settings
  • You can think on your feet and are good at asking questions to prompt stories
  • You’re a storyteller and can spot narrative arcs easily.
  • Technical knowledge of audio mixing, sound design, colour correction, and encoding
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to project and file hierarchy
  • You feel just as comfortable shooting a 4K video on a Sony mirrorless camera as you do an Instagram reel on an iPhone.
  • You’re love travelling and capturing footage on the go.
  • You can plan and coordinate trips, interviewees, and locations.
  • Comfortable in all phases of the video creation process, from pre-production, production, and post production, to the final delivery of the video.
  • You don’t feel awkward directing people and telling subjects what to do to get the best shots
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and SharePoint

Nice-to-have skills and abilities:

  • Experience using Monday.com or equivalent project management software
  • Experience with using Illustrator, and InDesign helpful
  • Let us know if you have any of the following skills or interests: audio engineering, storytelling, social media, video shooting/editing, writing
  • Experience working with or volunteering for a church or Christian organization
  • Speaking or writing in French, Chinese, or Spanish is an asset
  • Theological education or C&MA ordination, licensure, or certification
