The strategy is focused on relief and development activities according to the holistic needs of the refugee community, including holistic transformation through gospel proclamation and demonstration.


Description

Serves the refugee community in North Africa through holistic development, education, and trauma-informed care. Builds trust-based relationships and fosters spiritual growth and discipleship, partners with local and international teams for outreach and church development and ensures ongoing accountability to leadership and supporters in Canada.


Responsibilities

  1. Serve the refugee community in North Africa through relief and development efforts, possibly including involvement at a community center. According to training and expertise, teach English as a Second Language, computer courses, health promotion, facilitate income-generating projects, trauma therapy and/or other relevant training for refugees.
  2. Partner and engage in collaborative work with other International Workers and organizations reaching out to diaspora people group, including regular gatherings to pray.
  3. Intentionally develop growing relationships with individuals and families through relief and development connections. Visit people in their homes, establish trust with the families, and engage in spiritual conversations, gospel proclamation and discipleship.
  4. Participate in, contribute to, and help implement existing and new strategies, including church planting and development initiatives.
  5. Be accountable to the North Africa Team leadership and send regular reports and updates to supporting churches and constituency back in Canada.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certificate: any certificate in teaching ESL, community development or trauma care


Required Experience

Professional education and experience in related community development field (teaching ESL, health care, computer teaching, microenterprise, trauma therapy, etc.), relationship building with unbelievers, initiating and pursuing spiritual conversations, gospel proclamation.


Preferred Experience 

Local church ministry, serving and outreach, ministry with church or community organizations to the poor/vulnerable/refugee/immigrant population.
