As we prepare for General Assembly 2026, the Committee on Nominations has begun their work in discerning who to nominate for the vacant positions on the Board of Directors which need to be filled when we gather in Calgary at First Alliance Church June 8-12, 2026.

The Board of Directors is made up of twelve elected members (including the president) from each of the six districts (current Board of Directors). This year we have five members of the Board of Directors whose terms are coming to completion. Three of these members will be considered for renomination, while two of them have completed the maximum of two consecutive terms and are therefore required to take a minimum four-year absence from the Board before they may be considered for nomination again.

The Committee on Nominations is required to ensure that there is one name nominated for each vacant position on the Board of Directors and that, at the time of election, there must be one member from each district elected or nominated as per Operating Bylaw 3, Article 6.3.4 . The Committee’s practice historically has been to maintain equal representation on the Board of Directors whenever possible, but this is not required. Beyond geographical representation, the Committee does strive to encompass the diversity represented within The Alliance Canada whenever possible.

As the Committee on Nominations has been spending time discerning the need for the next Board of Directors, we have been gathering information, engaging in conversations, and seeking the Lord in listening prayer. Through this, the Spirit has highlighted the following needs, skills, and giftings that would be beneficial to see on the Board of Directors:

  • Treasurer (required need)
  • Rural community representation
  • Discerning
  • Prophetic
  • Entrepreneurial
  • Lay leaders
  • Diversity of voices (ethnicity, gender, etc.)

While it may be a challenge to find all of this in only five nominees, this is what the Lord has been highlighting for us as we pursue our vision of doubling our reach, internationally and nationally by 2034.

While the Committee on Nominations represents you in this work, we value your input as we search for potential nominees. We are asking you to join us in discernment by praying through the above list and asking Jesus if there is an official member in your church that fits the needs that the Committee should have at least an initial conversation with.

If you have a recommendation of someone you think we should consider, please email Dave Brown by December 31, 2025. We ask that you include the name and contact information of the individual you think we should consider and why you think they would be a good fit on the Board of Directors based on the discerned needs. The Committee on Nominations will then consider these names in our ongoing discernment process.

Thank you for joining us in this discernment process.

Rev. Dave Brown – Chair Committee on Nominations
