Letter from President Herbold

Assembly 2024 was a spiritual milestone where we collectively committed ourselves: “…in dependence on the Holy Spirit to the best of our ability, [we] commit ourselves to ensure that our local churches and ministries engage in all aspects of the Strategic Plan, and [we] commit ourselves to making the necessary sacrifices to share the love of Jesus with our broken world in efforts to double our reach by 2034.”

This commitment is about far more than metrics—it’s about a posture shift. Jesus has called us to an audacious goal that we are incapable of accomplishing on our own. It’s a call to double our depth and to be a people marked by prayerful dependence, bold imagination, and a relentless pursuit of Jesus. I’m reminded of the words in 2 Chronicles 26:5, where Scripture says of King Uzziah, “As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.”

This report is filled with stories and updates that demonstrate how God is actively at work, in our leaders and our churches, across our growth drivers of Prayer, Ministries, Leaders, and Churches.

Our calling requires humility, boldness, and a shared vision for what God can do when His people unite. If we truly want to see God move across our nation, we must be willing to imagine new ways of working together. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit…” — Ephesians 4:3–4 (NIV). We are being brought to a place where a new wineskin is required (Luke 5:37–38) because the Spirit is doing somethingfresh. I believe the best is yet to come, but this will require humility, boldness, and a fresh way of doing things.

I invite you to read on in this report—and to listen carefully to what the Spirit is saying to you personally, to your church, and to our movement. I encourage you to come to General Assembly 2026 with Spirit-led expectation and a posture of exploration. This is not just another gathering—this is our opportunity to gather, to seek, to listen, and to respond with simple faith and courageous obedience. Please join us as we ask God to bring us together to accomplish great things for his glory and for his kingdom.
