A new venture on Gabriola Island, BC

Partnered with Nanaimo Alliance Church and the Pacific District, Gabriola Community Venture is launching on Gabriola Island, BC, a picturesque community of approximately 4,500 residents. The island is accessed via a 20-minute ferry ride from the coast of Nanaimo, making this a unique location for developing a faith community. Under the leadership of Gloria Graf Davidson, and Ron Davidson, Gabriola Community Venture has emerged from a deep sense of calling to serve in this distinctive location. They approach this opportunity with a spirit of discovery and service, as they attune themselves to the needs of this space. Already, they have sensed God’s leading as they see the practical aspects of this New Venture falling into place. Gabriola Community Venture will focus on outreach and mentoring initiatives with the vision of fostering connection and support. This includes bi-weekly coffee shop meetings that encourage informal conversations, weekly community music events to bring people together, and a commitment to actively build both current and future mentoring relationships, including a recent Youth for Christ leader. Additionally, they plan to host a weekly Bible study, and will collaborate with another church on the island to provide fill-in preaching as needed, ensuring that this community has access to regular opportunities to develop and strengthen their understanding of what it means to follow Jesus.
