You can go on your own

Why link with the Alliance Team?

This is a pathway for Alliance people who are commissioned & spiritually supported by a home church, to use their profession anywhere in the world as intentional representatives of God’s Kingdom. For an overview of our approach, see What does Marketplace mean?" or watch our video above.

Anyone with a profession who can secure international employment can be involved. You do not need to retrain yourself to bring Christ to the nations. Your chosen vocation is one way God builds His Kingdom around the world. All through history God has used people no matter their profession, to build His Kingdom. You can make disciples around the world by being a faithful ambassador of Christ in your workplace and community.

All Christians are called to share their faith, especially with those with whom they have daily contact. The Alliance Marketplace pathway is intended to prepare, commission, and spiritually support those people who have felt a vocational calling to work and serve in places & cultures away from their home.

The Marketplace International Worker (MP-IW) and family are sent by a home church with a deep and intentional call to serve God, are and supported by a network of people and prayer. This is foundationally different than just doing an interesting and culturally-rich work assignment in a foreign country.

You are connected to something much bigger than just a job!

Start anytime! A Marketplace International Worker can be someone who has already been offered a position with an existing employer in a new region, (work assignment or transfer) or someone who is considering starting a new job or career in a new location. If you are a student or just starting out in your career, perhaps this is something for you to consider as part of your career plan.

There are 2 ways:

1. Visit our website at: thealliancecanada.ca/go and click on Marketplace
2. If you want to talk to someone in our Marketplace Office, fill out our inquiry form and we will be in touch with you within 2 weeks

1. We have a partnership with Scatter Global, a ministry dedicated to helping people prepare for and find international jobs as ambassadors of Christ. Check them out at https://www.scatterglobal.com/findajob.
2. We do not find you a job, but besides the help you can receive through our Scatter Global partnership, our website also lists some job search sites.
3. You are fully supported through your employment. However, once you have found a role, The Alliance Canada will connect you to a network that will provide:
*Community. You won’t be alone. If we have an existing team of Alliance workers near you, they will welcome you into the team where you can find connection and support. If there is no Alliance team, we’ll ensure you are linked to other like-minded communities.
*Coaching. Our community, networks and resources are available to you, to help with transitions, cross-cultural learning and how to be an effective witness in your workplace.
*Care. Your employer has a lot of responsibility to care for you, but when it comes to spiritual care, your local church and our international teams will be there for you.

Before you go, we will work together with you, our international teams and your local church to create an agreement that will make all this clear.

Yes, you can because this is already your identity in Christ. However, we want you to be realistic. Different regions and countries in the world tolerate differing levels of religious freedom, and this has a big impact on how, when, and where a Marketplace International Worker can practice or share their faith. The Alliance has deep experience in serving all corners of the world. We can help you in discerning both if, and where God would have you serve, by providing insight about what the rewards and challenges of serving in Marketplace ministry may look like in different regions of the world.
