The Alliance Canada Leadership Training Fund

The Alliance Canada Leader Formation Pathways exist to support the formation and development of leaders who serve and strengthen both our denomination and the broader Canadian church. For more information, please contact us.

Eligibility:

This funding is available for maturing Christ-followers who have a recognized or are exploring a vocational call to ministry and want to pursue their first post-secondary theological degree at a qualifying institution.

Requirements: 

Students who check all the following boxes are eligible to apply:

  • Students pursuing their first theological, or ministerial degree at an approved institution. 
  • Students enrolled in a degree program with a participating Church Hub (a local church committed to leader formation through offering practical ministry experience and mentoring) 
  • Commitment to involvement in the local church.   
  • Partnered with a mentor through your local church. 
  • Canadian Citizens, or Permanent Residents who currently reside in Canada. *This is required by our organization to comply with federal tax laws. 

Additional requirements:

  • Mentor information for their application. 
  • Personal written testimony and a call to ministry.
  • Interview with an Alliance Canada Leadership Team member.

Course and Volunteer Requirements

First Year Applicants
  • Enrolled in 3 or more courses - 60% course load
  • Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours/week in the life of local church
Second Year Applicants
  • Enrolled in 3 or more courses - 60% course load
  • Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours/week in the life of local church
Advanced Formation Pathway Applicants
  • Enrolled in 3 or more courses - 60% course load
  • Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours/week in the life of local church
Second Career Pathway Applicants
  • Enrolled in 1-2 courses
  • Volunteer a minimum of 2 hours/week in life of local church

More Details

  • Successful applicants will receive $500 per course, to a maximum grant of $2,000 per semester.
  • The funds will be sent directly to the institution on behalf of the student. 
  • This grant also includes a leadership network event that successful candidates are expected to attend. Costs of this event are covered through the grant including travel, accommodation, and meal expenses. (more details of the event to come). 
  • There will be Zoom calls throughout the year that each apprentice is expected to participate in. 
  • Recipients are required to maintain the approved course load (full-time is a minimum of 3 courses per semester or a 60% course load, part-time is 1-2 courses) (submitting a transcript for each semester) and maintaining a GPA of 2.5 in order to qualify each year. 
  • T4A slips will be provided according to federal tax requirements.
  • Approval for grants is made prior to the beginning of each academic year. Applicants shall re-apply on an annual basis and can re-apply up to 4 times.
