A church responding to the practical needs of First Nations communities nearby. A second generation Chinese congregation gathering with the blessing of their parents. A group of people building relationships with people caught in the sex industry. These are New Ventures. As a ministry of The Alliance Canada, New Ventures is motivated to see Canada as a mission field. We know that when it comes to the church in Canada, there is no “one size fits all” and we’re excited to walk alongside and support those who feel moved to do ministry in fresh ways across the country. Our desire is to see new leaders, in new places, leading new churches across Canada.

Discerning Communities are a supportive structure offered by New Ventures where a group can come together to listen, learn, and answer the following questions: Jesus, where are you at work in this region or people group? As a group, how are you inviting us to partner with you?
Generally, a Discerning Community gathers over a 6-9 month period. Together this group learns about an agreed-upon area, looks for opportunities to serve various needs, and listens for invitations of the Spirit to partner with God in a given region.

Whether navigating a season of transition or stepping into ministry for the first time, discerning individuals are given the space and support to seek clarity in their vocational calling. After a 1-2 year season of discovery and discernment, our hope is that leaders in various stages of life will be able to confidently walk into their next phase of ministry with clarity and conviction. For many, this will involve stepping out and doing something new in Jesus' name.
