As conflict continues across parts of the Middle East and surrounding region, The Alliance Canada is coming alongside our partners in the region through the Global Emergency Response Fund (GERF). During these difficult days, the underground church network in Iran is serving in their communities: caring for wounded, supporting grieving families, and bringing practical aid and hope to people around them.

Last summer during the previous crisis, one mother of three fled an area under heavy bombardment. She encountered the living Christ through the care she received during her displacement: “One day people came with food … but they also brought dignity. They treated us like family. I knew they were Christians, because only people whose hearts belong to God act like this. Their love was a gentle touch from God upon the wounds of my soul.”

As we consider believers who are serving faithfully during these difficult days, we can be reminded of Jesus’ words from the Sermon on the Mount when he says of His followers:

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden…. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Today, the needs are again growing: food shortages, medical needs, and displacement continue to increase as the situation unfolds; despite the fragile ceasefire, the impact and needs will linger. The Alliance Canada has partnered with a local ministry network that equips underground church leaders with the resources they need to serve their communities with both compassion and hope.

Would you prayerfully consider joining us in this effort to stand alongside the church in Iran during this historic and difficult moment?

Your support through the Global Emergency Relief Fund provides:

• food and clean water for displaced families
• medicine and emergency care for wounded individuals
• hygiene supplies and essential aid for vulnerable households
• resources that allow underground church leaders to care for their communities

Prayer requests

As our brothers and sisters in Christ continue to provide and care for the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of those displaced, would you pray with us:

• for God’s continued protection, peace, and sustaining presences across the Middle East and Arabian Peninsula—for our International Workers, partners, and churches in the region

• that the underground church network will be equipped, strengthened, and emboldened to be the hands and feet of Jesus

• that the light of Christ will shine forth through the good works of the believers to bring glory to our Father in heaven

• that many would turn in faith to believe and the underground church network would grow and expand beyond what we can ask or imagine

Thank you for your consideration and support.
